The Grant Meeting

The original question that we had going into the meeting was to ask about this supplemental materials that were to be submitted on the grant application. We got so much for information about the Beverly Cultural Council and about some of the people that submit to the Council.

For the Grant application itself the deadline is OCT. 17th. We will be notified if we got the grant in late January. We found out that we will have to a short presentation to the council about our event. It will be a short 5 min meeting with them and the MASh team. We thought of originally using the MASh presentation from Business of Art but since it too long we will show the posters, the postcards, stickers for the promotional things and then the trailer that we had made. It really is a good idea to meet with the council in person to give more of a face to the application. We found out that the supplementary materials have to be 3 pages max. I forgot the other day for presentations but the one day is Wednesday 30th. The time frame is to be announced.

Another important piece of the information we got is that they never/hardly award the full asked amount. But if and when we do get awarded the money we have to use it in the calendar year  and we must credit the Beverly Cultural council in the the advertising.

We also did a little of networking. We met the Coordinator of Digital Media  and the associate Professor of Photography, E. Michael Miller, for Endicott College. This connection fell into our lap and he is all for helping us get submissions. So we will defiantly be in contact with him. Also he said for use to also get in touch with their Operations Coordinator. We also met with the new owner of the Larkum theater, Donny, and he is also very open to new acts and bringing art to Beverly.  So all in all the night was very informative and had great networking opportunities.

MASh's RETURN!!!

We had our first MASh meeting on Tuesday. We went over the game plan for the next few months. This is going to be an independent study for Mel and Michelle and an internship for Allyson. For the independent study it will be for 1.5 credits for each semester for a total of 3 credits. The internship will be drawn to through out the year. These are a few ideas that we went through:

  1.  For people to have a fresher of how great MASh was, we can put the old mash movie on the monitor down stairs by the Gallery (ask Leonie)
    1. We could also do a re-screening in 201 so even the freshman can get an idea of what MASh is about and submit
  2. A poster contest:
    1. Maybe we can scrape together about $50 bucks to design the poster to get more people involved.
